What's New on the Alchemy Immortalis SIMs? A Note from Immortalis ...

Hello everyone,

I hope you had a brilliant fall season full of family, fun and a little more sun before we dive into winter. If you have not been to the Alchemy Immortalis SIMs of late, you may be surprised to know we are now a collection of 5 sims.

1) Alchemy Immortalis

This is our original retail sim for our store of the same name. Often people ask where our tip jar is because they want to support the Irish parkland SIMs, we often point people back to our store simply because it feels wrong to take money for time spend relaxing on the sims. If you really want to support us, instead of donating perhaps pick up a little something in our shop. Tier is paid by retail sales and thus supports all of the parkland open to the public.

2) Empress and Hierophant

Empress and Hierophant is the little SIM that could. It's named after us in a way. Alchemy is the Empress. I'm (Immortalis) the Hierophant. Originally it was our private home. I built it in an Irish theme for Alchemy Cyannis. We opened it to the public and it quickly became a photography and holiday oriented sim for people wanting to get away into nature. What started as a small personal build quickly grew into the 5 Irish themed SIMs we have now.

3) Inis Caiseal

Inis Caiseal (pronounced "Inish Cashel") means Castle Island. It was purchased last year but was never fully developed until now. One of the big changes is the appearance of castle ruins(for which the sim is named) on the western headland over the harbour. a tunnel in the south, and extensive roadster touring system that loops through four SIMs. Of the 5 sims, it is also the only region officially designated as An Ghaeltacht. "An Ghaeltacht" means irish-speaking region. Although I'm Irish, I am not fluent. What I do remember is woefully poor...but, for Alchemy, I am designing a region that might give you a feel for what it would be like travelling through a Ghaeltacht region in the country. Please be careful on the roads, as the roadsters can run you over. Also mind the signs "STAD"(stop) and "GĂ©ill SlĂ"(yield) to help learn the traffic patterns.

Another navigation system we'll be bringing to the SIMs since the roadster tour has done so well is the ability to call a taxi to take you to various destinations if you want to simply get there, and not have to use the touring cars. Immortalis will likely launch this as the pub opens on Inis Caiseal.

If you'd rather tour by hoof, you might be interested in this next addition. If you own a horse that needs to be rezzed on land instead of worn as an attachment, you'll be happy to know we now have a stable on Inis Caiseal where you can do so.

The majority of the music is Sean Nós, which is unaccompanied traditional Irish singing, or single instrument, such as, uilleann pipes and accordian. Here is a list of some of my favourite singers you'll hear on Inis Caiseal. Many of the songs are by people lesser known outside of their counties in Ireland but admired greatly in Ireland for their devotion to preserving a rich tradition. This is a lovely introduction to some of the best singers to be found. You'll hear Nell Ni Chroinin from Macroom, County Cork singing "An Lacha Bacach." Cara Dillon is from Dungiven, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland and singing "Fil, Fil A Run Ó." She also won, at 14, the All Ireland Singing Trophy at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann....and so many more.

Also expect some new stories told by Pat Speigh, seanchaĂ, a modern bard preserving the tales of old such as "The Clever Daughter", "The Three Wishes", and "The Tinker of Telemacht."

If you take a look at the updated map of the sims, you'll notice space reserved on Inis Caiseal in the west, for a small country pub. Stay tuned for a traditional pub in the old style when many publicans were also grocers and undertaker. This would date it to the late 19th century

4) Ceangal

(Pronounced "Keng-uhl") From the moment we shared our Celtic "Empress and Hierophant" SIM almost 3 years ago, we dreamed out loud about opening a "Bed & Breakfast" experience. Last month we added a new sim called "Ceangal" (which is Irish for "connection" or "bond") in order to begin welcoming guests. We opened a small number of stay dates in order to understand if the amenities would properly meet guests needs. With our launch period complete we've opened the sim up to the public temporarily and invite you to explore.

If you've been wanting to immerse yourself more intimately in a little slice of our coastal Irish magic, drop by the Rental Calendar in our new "Alchemy Immortalis" shop to pick up a voucher for a one day stay at "The Sea Gypsy" at Ceangal.

If you would like to know a little bit more about our Bed & Breakfast experience, take a peek here.

5) Saerlaith

(Pronounced "Say-er-luh") A few weeks ago we expanded our "Bed and Breakfast" experience to include the Saerlaith sim. It's name hails from an old Irish word that means "noble queen". While Saerlaith has been closed to the public while we develop this newest location, we've opened it temporarily to invite you to peek around.

....

New Windlight Setting

And last but certainly not least we have 1 new windlight setting to the collection of 3 foggy settings. It's called ") AI ( Inis Caiseal Setting Sun." I was looking at a sunset picture taken in Wexford county, Leinster. With it's beautiful and bright hues, it's a lovely way to end the day. You can download this new windlight setting by clicking here.

Do you dream of running your own business in Second Life without the hassle of designing products and a compelling showcase? Drop by Alchemy Immortalis to pick up our new "Instant Patisserie" kit, a turn-key business package which includes the shop, the products, the vendors and the amenities.

Based on our Sirènes et Moineaux Patisserie (see it live here), the kit offers a novel way to add traffic to your own sim and make it sticky, cultivating a treasured destination that allows visitors to immerse themselves in a charming, intimate space.

Take advantage of our pre-sale! We'll only be offering 10 of these kits during the pilot period to ensure we can offer adequate support to the new shop owners. Pre-sale kits are available now, with the patisserie being delivered to the new owners this Saturday, November 5th.

(UPDATE: Due to the unprecedented response this sale received, and the fact that all 10 kits sold out in the first hour, we have set a handful more out in order to accommodate the heavy IM requests coming in.)

L$5,000 for a Complete Shop!

For less than USD$20.00 you can start your own business. You can make the shop your own, easily changing the logo, the colours, and the display items within it. The building has a menu system that makes it easy to try on new looks at the touch of a button, offering you a variety of options to make your space personal and cozy.

Includes a custom logo. Create your own, or have Alchemy create a gilt sign text graphic of your shop's name for you at no extra charge. Display our products, or your own, or mix them up! You are not obligated to put our affiliate vendors into your shop, and you can choose to put products and vendors from other designers alongside as you choose. Whether you're a pixel chef yourself, or simply looking for a fun, compelling way to market your favourite baked goods and café items from designers around the grid, the Patisserie package offers a great kickstart for an instant cozy retail and meeting place.

Display Product Starter Kit

This package includes a set of display items that you can place throughout your shop, showing customers live examples of the items that are available for sale through the affiliate vendors. Easy Updates and Add-Ons

Perfect for brides looking for a decadent, traditional French alternative to the wedding cake, or for hosts simply looking for an elegant centerpiece to dress up their own tables at home and at parties.

A croquembouche (or croquenbouche) is a type of French dessert referred to as a "pièce montée", meaning "edible centerpiece". It is often served at weddings, as well as other celebrations such as baptisms and first communions. Crafted from a high cone of profiteroles bound with threads of caramel, it is often elaborately decorated with sugared almonds, chocolate, flowers, or ribbons. The choux buns are sometimes made with savoury fillings instead of sweet ones.

The name comes from the French words 'Croque en bouche', meaning 'crunch in the mouth'.

FREE! Get Your Geek On with a Little Steampunk Pose-foolery for Men at the GeekGasm II Event

There are few events we enjoy more than those that let us geek right the hell out, and Hannelore Difference and the "Geekgasm II" crew invited us to do exactly that in this latest hunt.

Immortalis has been working on a new Victorian Portraiture inspired steampunk collection, and has tossed in 3 of his latest poses for men, including a pose inspired by one of our own very favourite early-yon geeks: Oscar Wilde. (Now there was a boy who knew how to "rock out with his spock out" as the gasm event keeps prodding folks to do ; ) Immortalis has also tossed our jeweled Victorian cane in as a bonus prop for the Wilde-inspired pose.

More About the Poses ...

This pose pack was inspired by Felix Nadar, a French photographer of the mid-to-late-1800's. Well-known for his iconic style of portraiture, he was highly sought after by his contemporaries. Jules Verne, Charles Baudelaire, Sarah Bernhardt, Victor Hugo and Oscar Wilde were all captured by his lens. Nadar was known for emphasising the face through the use of dark clothing, de-emphasising the hands, fading the light to the corners of the shot and spare backgrounds and props.

These 3 poses will help you mug it up in style, whether you're into Victorian or steampunk roleplaying and looking for something authentic to capture your grand visage, or merely looking to nail a little of that wild Wilde bombastic taste.

Get Your Just Desserts! Free Truffles and Black Forest Profiteroles

We've been invited to participate in a number of special events and hunts throughout the spring, and this one is particularly yummy!

The "Just Desserts" hunt launched on May 31st and runs through the end of June, with 50 different merchants hiding free goodies in their shops.

We're actually tucking 2 gifts into our Sirènes et Moineaux pâtisserie. Look around the shop for the official hunt "cupcake", which you can buy for L$0, containing our gifts:

A Bowl of Hand-Dipped Truffles
(dispenses animated edibles)

A Black Forest Profiterole in a Crystal Dessert Goblet

Find the two cupcakes that are hidden in the pâtisserie and buy each of them for L$0 to get each of these gifts. They contain copy/no transfer versions of each product.

The profiteroles are also available in transferrable versions in both the goblet and in bowls. You'll find them for sale on the cake counter right inside the front door of the shop, along with this succulent new treat:

Poached Pear in Rich Cream & Rich Chocolate

Want to visit the other participating shops? Hunt organzier Mandi Blanco's official hunt blog tells you how.

Happy hunting, and bon appétit!

Poached Pears in Rich Cream and Chocolate Sauce

The approach of summer brings sweet, succulent pears, bursting with juices and begging to be plated with a decadent sauce.

These aren't available on the Marketplace website just yet, but you can pop into the Sirènes et Moineaux pâtisserie to pick up one of these sweet treats. You'll find them waiting on the front counter as soon as you walk in the door.

Belle Epoque Dress (Sanguine)

Real women have curves. Real dresses celebrate them.

This period piece conjures up the romance of "La Belle Époque" (the "beautiful era"), a time when shapely women were worshipped, and fashion rose to the challenge of reinventing the traditional Victorian fullness as something more playful with an Edwardian-inspired sauciness.

The tulip skirt bottom of this dress gives a nod to the generous proportions of it's namesake, Callipygian, kissed with elegant period accents in it's flowing lace and elegant pearls.

Leave the tulip skirt off for a sleeker, more playful, Edwardian, body-hugging look. Two outfits in one.

Whether you're looking for a little late nineteenth century elegance, or learning toward the edge of the gilded age's Gatsby-esque flirtation, this dress makes a delicious head-turner when you walk in the door.

Memories of Calliygian Dress

Real women have curves. Real dresses celebrate them.

This period piece conjures up the romance of "La Belle Époque" (the "beautiful era"), a time when shapely women were worshiped, and fashion rose to the challenge of reinventing the traditional Victorian fullness as something more playful with an Edwardian-inspired sauciness.

The tulip skirt bottom of this dress gives a nod to the generous proportions of it's namesake, Callipygian, kissed with elegant period accents in it's flowing lace, glistening lilies and elegant pearls.

Whether you're looking for a little late nineteenth century elegance, or learning toward the edge of the gilded age's Gatsby-esque flirtation, this dress makes a delicious head-turner when you walk in the door.
